April. It’s the shortest work month of the year, which is welcome coming off an action-packed end to March for the YIELD. team.
No doubt the relief of April is being felt by many others on the corporate circuit, with many having their time consumed by some of the biggest events on the Perth calendar.
This was headlined by the five-day Resources Technology Showcase (RTS), during which CAT dealer WesTrac created a huge activation in the Supreme Court Gardens. With free admission to the public, visitors were able to jump into the cab of several CAT mining and construction machines to experience what it was like to operate them in mini dig pits. Taking advantage of the free admission were some big names, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese who stopped by to participate in some family friendly activities. And on Tuesday the Premier visited WesTrac and Caterpillar’s exhibition at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) where passers-by could strap on VR goggles and be placed in the virtual driver’s seat of a haul truck. Speaking of PCEC, it was a hive of activity on April Fools Day, with the return of TEDxPerth’s flagship event for the first time in three years. Proudly supported by Spoke, the event attracted 1500 people who heard from some of Australia’s most interesting speakers and had the chance to participate in a range of PR activations, Q&A sessions and associated events. ut to get there, they first had to pass some of the most outrageously dressed superheroes attending Oz-Comicon next door, a true fan-led celebration of comic book culture.
Potentially considered by some as a superhero, Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas made an appearance, at the TEDxPerth VIP morning tea that is, where he sung the praises of the event’s organising committee for bringing the flagship event back after a three year period of inactivity.
