The brief

Energy Matrix Group (EMG) is a leading Australian gas trading, supply and energy advisory business. In 2025 it commenced rationalising four separate operating entities into a single company. Its business simplification required four distinct brands, digital footprints and sets of client-facing collateral to come together under one identity ahead of a hard go-live date.

EMG engaged Spoke to lead communications through the consolidation, developing the client, industry and internal messaging to carry stakeholders through the change and facilitate broad market awareness. This was sequenced around a mid-May 2026 rebrand and a 1 July 2026 cutover for underlying legal and financial changes.

Our approach

  • Developed a three-theme key message framework (business consolidation, service continuity, information integrity) with supporting proof points.
  • Built a stakeholder matrix and FAQ to sequence outreach across producers, customers, network operators, regulators, industry associations, analysts and consulting clients, each with tailored concerns and timing.
  • Designed and timed the rollout of a full suite of EMG-branded collateral in place of four legacy identities.
  • Rationalised four legacy company websites into a single new site covering site mapping, content architecture, page-by-page copywriting, design review, commissioning and go-live.
  • Rationalised four legacy LinkedIn pages into one EMG profile, managing admin access transfer, employee profile migration instructions and phased deactivation of legacy pages.
  • Produced sequenced stakeholder communications, external rebrand messaging, and an internal LinkedIn engagement campaign to enable staff to be advocates for the new brand.
  • Captured photography and video content for use across the new website, Capability Statement and social channels as the business consolidation took effect.

The results

  • EMG recognised as a top-50 Private Business in Western Australia by leading publication Business News.
  • Contract volume growth of 50% on the same period previous year, supporting a growing business with increasing market penetration at national scale.
  • Brand permeation at industry and key stakeholder level, including directly with the Premier of Western Australia.
  • Key message framework, proof points and FAQ finalised and presented to EMG leadership, giving the business a single script for internal and external stakeholder conversations through the transition.
  • Stakeholder communications sequencing outreach to more than 40 stakeholder groups across producers, customers, network operators, regulators and industry bodies.
  • Full branded collateral suite delivered and approved across the Microsoft 365 suite, replacing four inconsistent legacy identities with one.
